The system of representations of the Weil-Deligne group
associated to an abelian variety.

Summary
Fix a number field \(F\subset\mathbf{C}\), an abelian variety \(A/F\)
and let \(G_A\) be the Mumford-Tate group of \(A_{/\mathbf{C}}\).
After replacing \(F\) by finite extension one can assume that, for every
prime number \(\ell\), the action of the absolute Galois group
\(\Gamma_F\) of \(F\) on the first \(\ell\)-adic étale cohomology
group of \(A_{\overline{F}}\) factors through a morphism
\(\rho_\ell\colon\Gamma_F\rightarrow G_A(\mathbf{Q}_\ell)\).
Let \(v\) be a valuation of \(F\) and write \(\Gamma_{F_v}\) for the
absolute Galois group of the completion \(F_v\).
For every \(\ell\) with \(v(\ell)=0\), the restriction of
\(\rho_\ell\) to \(\Gamma_{F_v}\) defines a representation
\({}^\prime W_{F_v}\rightarrow G_{A/\mathbf{Q}_\ell}\)
of the Weil-Deligne group.
It is conjectured that, for every \(\ell\), this representation of
\({}^\prime W_{F_v}\) is defined
over \(\mathbf{Q}\) as a representation with values in \(G_A\) and that the
above system, for variable \(\ell\), forms a compatible system of
representations of \({}^\prime W_{F_v}\) with values in \(G_A\).
In the main theorem of this paper, a somewhat weaker version of this
conjecture is proved for the valuations of \(F\) where \(A\) has
semi-stable reduction and for which the image of a Frobenius element
at \(v\) is neat.
\(\rho_\ell\colon\Gamma_F\rightarrow G_A(\mathbf{Q}_\ell)\).
Soient \(v\) une valuation de \(F\) et notons \(\Gamma_{F_v}\) le
groupe de Galois absolu du complété \(F_v\).
Pour tout \(\ell\) avec \(v(\ell)=0\), la restriction de \(\rho_\ell\) à
\(\Gamma_{F_v}\) définit une représentation
\({}^\prime W_{F_v}\rightarrow G_{A/\mathbf{Q}_\ell}\) du groupe de
Weil-Deligne.
