Operads, Graph Complexes, and the Rational Homotopy of Embedding Spaces

    16 février 2021 - 14:00Web-séminaire

Résumé : I will report on joint works with Victor Turchin and Thomas Willwacher on the applications of operads to the study of the rational homotopy type of embedding spaces. In a first part, I will explain a graph complex description of the rational homotopy of mapping spaces of En-operads. Results on the Goodwillie-Weiss calculus implies that this computation gives a description of a delooping of embedding spaces of Euclidean spaces. In a second part, I will explain a generalization of this model for the computation of the rational homotopy of the embedding spaces of manifolds into Euclidean spaces.

A Leray Model for the Orlik-Solomon Algebra

    9 mars 2021 - 14:00Web-séminaire

Résumé : We construct a combinatorial generalization of the Leray models for hyperplane arrangement complements. Given a matroid and some combinatorial blowup data, we give a presentation for a bigraded (commutative) differential graded algebra. If the matroid is realizable over C, this is the familiar Morgan model for a hyperplane arrangement complement, embedded in a blowup of projective space. In general, we obtain a CDGA that interpolates between the Chow ring of a matroid and the Orlik-Solomon algebra. Our construction can also be expressed in terms of sheaves on combinatorial blowups of geometric lattices. As a key technical device, we construct a monomial basis via a Gröbner basis for the ideal of relations. Combining these ingredients, we show that our algebra is quasi-isomorphic to the classical Orlik-Solomon algebra of the matroid. This is joint work with Graham Denham and Eva Maria Feichtner.

Tautological bundles of tropical linear spaces

    30 mars 2021 - 17:00Web-séminaire

Résumé : Matroid theory has seen fruitful developments arising from different algebro-geometric approaches to matroids, such as the K-theory of Grassmannians and Chow rings of wonderful compactifications. However, these developments have remained somewhat disjoint, often with no clear connection between them. We introduce "tautological bundles of matroids" as a new geometric framework for studying matroids. We show that it unifies, recovers, and extends much of these recent developments including log-concavity statements, as well as answering some open conjectures. This is a joint work with Andrew Berget, Hunter Spink, and Dennis Tseng.

Genus zero modular operad and Grothendieck-Teichmüller group's avatar

    11 mai 2021 - 14:00Web-séminaire

Résumé : In this talk, we develop the geometry of canonical stratifications of the spaces \bar{M}_{0,n}  and prepare ground for studying the action of the Galois group or the field of rational numbers upon strata. We introduce a categorical framework for the description of symmetries of genus zero modular operad. This description merges the techniques of recent "persistence homology" studies and the classical formalism of groupoids. We provide a new avatar of profinite Grothendieck-Teichmüller group acting upon this operad, but seemingly not related with representations of the Galois group of all algebraic numbers.

On a conjecture of Pirashvili: from Leibniz to DG Lie algebras

    18 mai 2021 - 14:00Web-séminaire

Résumé : I will describe how the notion of a Leibniz algebra encodes a part of the structure of a differential graded Lie algebra. In particular, I will describe two functors from Leibniz to DG Lie algebras which give rise to the Chevalley-Eilenberg and the Leibniz cohomology. As an application, I will show how this interpretation of Leibniz algebras implies a conjecture on the vanishing of the cohomology of a certain chain complex, put forward by T. Pirashvili. I will also discuss a nonlinear version of this story and show how to define a new "Leibniz-type" cohomology for groups and, more generally, pre-crossed modules; the rack cohomology is a particular case of this cohomology theory.

    Koszul algebras and DT invariants

    5 octobre 2021 - 14:00Salle de séminaires IRMA

Résumé: the Cohomological Hall Algebra (CoHA) defined by Kontsevich and Soibelman is a remarkable mix of algebraic geometry and algebraic topology which can be used to calculate Donaldson-Thomas invariants and their versions. In particular, Efimov proved a conjecture of Kontsevich and Soibelman stating that for a symmetric quiver the CoHA is a free supercommutative algebra on a certain multigraded supervector space which is a free module over the ring of polynomials in one variable; this proves the integrality of ``refined Donaldson-Thomas invariants''. I shall discuss another approach to integrality which uses homotopical algebra and the Koszul duality theory. In particular, this approach associates to each symmetric quiver a non-trivial multigraded Lie superalgebra whose components have dimensions equal to the refined DT invariants. This talk is mostly based on a joint project with Evgeny Feigin and Markus Reineke (and uses results of a joint project with Sergey Mozgovoy).

    Gravity properad and moduli spaces M_{g,n}

    19 octobre 2021 - 14:00Salle de séminaires IRMA

Résumé : Let M_{g,n} be the moduli space of algebraic curves of genus g with m+n marked points decomposed into the disjoint union of two sets of cardinalities m and n, and H(M_{g,m+n}) its compactly supported cohomology group. We prove that the collection of S-bimodules {H(M_{g,m+n})} has the structure of a properad (called the gravity properad) such that it contains the (degree shifted) E. Getzler's gravity operad. Moreover, we prove that the generators of the 1-dimensional cohomology groups H(M_0,{1+2}), H(M_{0,2+1}) and H(M_0,{3+0}) satisfy with respect to this properadic structure the relations of the (degree shifted) quasi-Lie bialgebra, a fact making the totality of cohomology groups ∏_{g,m,n}H(M_{g,m+n})⊗_{S_m×S_n}(sgn_m⊗1_n) into a complex with the differential fully determined by the just mentioned three cohomology classes. It is proven that this complex contains infinitely many cohomology classes, all coming from M. Kontsevich's odd graph complex.

The gravity properad structure is established with the help of T. Willwacher's twisting endofunctor (in the category of properads under the operad of Lie algebras) and K. Costello's theory of moduli spaces of nodal disks with marked boundaries and internal marked points (such that each disk contains at most one internal marked point).

    Relations among block graded multizetas

    16 novembre 2021 - 14:00Salle de séminaires IRMA

Résumé : Multizetas, generalising the Riemann zeta function to multiple arguments, arise naturally in connection with modular forms, conformal field theories, associators, and the study of mixed Tate motives. Unlike single zeta values, they are known to have a rich algebraic structure. Of particular interest is an explicit description of a complete set of relations. While several conjecturally complete sets of relations are known, the question remains open. In this talk, we introduce a new filtration on the algebra of (motivic) multizetas, called the block filtration. This filtration arises naturally from the motivic structure on the algebra of multizetas, and, by considering the associated graded algebra, allows us to discuss a number of new families of relations among block graded multizetas. These relations can be shown to completely describe relations among multizetas in low block degree, and resolve block-graded analogues of a number of Charlton's conjectures.
